Inductee Banquet
Mark you calendars!!!
The Lowndes County Sports Hall of Fame has set a date for local sports enthusiasts to look forward to as it will induct its inaugural class of honorees.
The first banquet to induct members into the newly formed organization’s hall of fame is scheduled for April 18, 2025 at the Trotter Convention Center in downtown Columbus.
“We believe the Trotter is perfectly suited for this event with its size and location,” said LCSHOF vice president Trip Hairston, who made a down payment to reserve the Trotter for the banquet. “Scheduling events around other activities is some times difficult, however usually spring time events are always well attended and Friday nights are usually synonymous with sporting events.”
The banquet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and the price for admission is $30 per person.
The first class is expected to consist of 10-15 members. The inductees will be selected through a nomination process in December.
The LCSHOF is in the process of seeking sponsors for the banquet.

“We want to thank all of the individuals, businesses and organizations who have supported and encouraged us to help make the first induction class a reality,” said LCSHOF president Glenn Lautzenhiser. “The achievements and successes of so many in Lowndes County who contributed to athletic excellence need to be recognized by our community.”
Through the years, the Trotter has been the site for numerous events with sports icons as featured guests.
Prior to and after being renovated and renamed the Trotter Convention Center in 1989, the building has had the likes of football hall of famer Jerry Rice, baseball legends Tommy Lasorda and Bobby Richardson and soccer standout Kyle Rote Jr. walk through its doors.
The upcoming banquet will be on the Easter season’s Good Friday and it will be a good day for the first inductees of the Lowndes County Sports Hall of Fame
